Hi SueC. Avoiding places were violence might occur is sound advice which I would consider to be a prevention tactic. The tactics discussed in the article are for when a confrontation actually occurs.

Hi, I agree with everything you've said here, it's very sound advise. The only thing you haven't mentioned that is also sound advise (especially for women) is to avoid situations where violence is likely to occur in the first place or if you have to go there, don't go alone. Nice post – thanks

Self Defense Street Fight 10 tips article here is excellent & very true & 100% correct here. Why? Well with 26 years experience in martial arts, mostly full contact kick boxing & close to 10 years in Krav Maga, this past few years Tactical Krav Maga a full contact simple version of Krav Maga. If you seen on TV History Channel “Human Weapon” Martial Arts Documentary the Human Weapon on Krav Maga, Itay Gil took Human Weapon Hosts to an Israeli IDF Commando Combatives base, what Itay does & taught us is Tactical Krav Maga. Any before that, thanks to Mugendo Full Contact Kick Boxing, modern variations of Fairbarin Combatives (Lee Morrison Urban Combatives DVDs excellent) & the best of the best Geoff Thompson, whose dvds are amazing, & I trained all Geoff recommened, with a full years of my own here & there “on the door” getting my unfair (LOL) share of real life encounter, (perhaps unfair in conclusion to the Attackers ;-0 ) I agree with all the 10 tips here. In physical self defense regardless of style etc, you must be vicious to defeat an experienced attacker, its not easy its not a joke, however the best self defense, (to hell with ego) is Run Like Hell.
